High-quality manufacturing with solid durability features, but accuracy performance fell slightly short of expectations.

Overall Impressions

This 11.5” Centurion Arms barrel shows strong manufacturing quality. It passed all gauging , borescope results looked great, and overall construction inspires confidence.

That said, performance at 100 yards was a bit underwhelming. While this isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker for an 11.5” barrel (which typically isn’t a precision-focused setup), it does leave some performance on the table.

The gas port is also slightly oversized for my liking, leading to increased bolt speed and recoil impulse. It’s not excessive, but it’s noticeable and worth considering, especially if you plan to run suppressed.

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Good overall manufacturing quality

  • Passed chamber gauging with tight headspace

  • Chrome-lined, cold hammer forged construction for durability

  • Price point appears reasonable for what you get

Cons

  • 100-yard grouping performance was below expectations

  • Gas port is slightly oversized

  • May be less optimal for suppressed setups

  • Can be difficult to find in stock

Specifications & Inspection

Core Specs

  • Length: 11.5”

  • Chamber: 5.56 NATO (passed chamber gauge)

  • Twist Rate: 1:7

  • Gas System: Carbine-length

  • Gas Port: 0.071”

This gas system setup is standard for the barrel length. Gas port is slightly on the larger side, but, not bad by any means.

Materials & Construction

  • Steel: “Machine gun barrel steel” (per Centurion)

  • Rifling Method: Cold Hammer Forged

  • Rifling Style: 6-groove, right-hand twist

  • Bore: Chrome-lined

This is a durability-focused configuration. CHF + chrome lining is a proven combination for longevity and heat resistance, especially under high round count or rapid fire schedules.

Exterior & Interface Features

  • Finish: Phosphate

    • Good oil retention

    • Low reflectivity

  • Muzzle Threads: 1/2x28

  • Feed Ramps: Standard, non-chamfered (looked good)

  • Barrel Extension Diameter: Average

  • Gas Block Journal: Slightly smaller than average

Nothing unusual here—everything falls within expected norms and appears well executed.

Borescope Observations

  • Chamber: Body and Neck looked good. Shoulder area had some small chatter marks

  • Neck / Throat: No notable issues

  • Rifling: Looked consistent

  • Gas Port: No obvious defects

  • Crown: Looked great

Overall, the internal finish looked great. Particularly for a chrome-lined barrel

When / Why I Would Buy This Barrel

This barrel makes the most sense if your priorities are:

  • Durability and long service life

  • Hard-use applications (training, defensive setups, high round count)

  • A CHF + chrome-lined configuration at a reasonable price point

Where it’s less compelling:

  • If you’re chasing top-tier accuracy

  • If you’re building a suppressed setup and want tighter gas control

  • If you’re optimizing for smooth recoil impulse

Bottom line: this is a use-focused barrel, not a performance-optimized one.

Final Thoughts

This Centurion 11.5” barrel is a good example of something that checks almost every box on paper for hard use and durability. But, doesn’t fully translate that into standout performance for 100 yard groups.

It’s a great barrel for the proper use case, but does leave some room for improvement with performance.
